public holiday #1

Melbourne Cup day! The race that stops a nation! Excuse me, nation, I’m trying to get through here!

No, I did not go to the races; instead, we woke up late (and only because it was just too hot to sleep any more), went out and bought some chicken and salad, then ate it in the park under a big, shady tree. After a while we went home and watched the race on TV – yes, the favourite won, she’s won it three times in a row, it’s a perfect fairytale. In other news, I wore my new sundress. Reports: favourable.

"Make a remark," said the Red Queen: "Its ridiculous to leave all conversation to the pudding!"
