Reading:
The new Marian Keyes book, on the plane to/from New Zealand.
Listening:
I feel compelled to sneak in here that I walked down the aisle to Led Zeppelin. The first 90 seconds of “Over the Hills and Far Away”, specifically. Yeah, not quite so bad-ass as you thought.
Watching:
My little sim people from my sim-style game DYING. I forgot about them. Sorry, sim-people. I didn’t know you kept on living when I left the game! I am not a kindly nor benevolent god.
Eating:
Wedding cake – chocolate buttermilk cake with ganache. Recommended.
Liking:
Seeing all our Australian friends again who have somehow scattered to the far corners of the country. Come back! We are not scary!
Pondering:
The likelihood I will cry at the ceremony. MUST NOT CRY.

- Reading:
Wedding forums. Oh yes. There are a LOT of stressed-out girls around, I tell you. About table linens, mostly. And chairs. Who cares about chairs?
- Listening:
Hamish and Andy on the radio. I really do think they genuinely crack each other up.
- Watching:
Glee, sporadically. I keep forgetting that it’s on.
- Eating:
I am in a huge pasta phase. If it’s a noodle, I’ll eat it.
- Liking:
My new wedding dress. Yes, number three. It’s a sickness.
- Pondering:
Why do all these people insist we need an MC for the wedding? We don’t. I promise you.
1 August 2009
Reading:
The Tomorrow series, John Marsden. If you haven’t read these I SERIOUSLY recommend.
Listening:
Elton John’s Greatest Hits. Hello, ipod shuffle! Don’t go breaking my heart!
Watching:
Futurama. Did you know you can download episodes and watch them on the train on the way to work? GENIUS.
Eating:
Mr T remains on his steak bandwagon and we’re eating a LOT of red meat.
Liking:
Re-reading all my Young Adult books on the train. Hey, it’s not Tolstoy; but Tolstoy is too heavy to carry around all day.
Pondering:
Why must they work on ALL of the freeways at the same time? Leave one freeway free, I beg you! It’s all 60, all the time.
1 July 2009
Reading:
The Narnia series, books 1-7. I say, you needn’t be beastly about it.
Listening:
The high-pitched whine of motor racing on the TV. How did this season come round again so fast?
Watching:
Don’t Mess With The Zohan. I feel as if I’ve seen this movie before… ah, that’s because it’s basically the same as EVERY OTHER Adam Sandler movie ever made.
Eating:
Aldi homebrand version of Special K with Red Berries. I find Aldi fascinating.
Liking:
The heater. I fully embrace the heater. I fight with the cat for the heater, but he’s quite small and usually loses.
Pondering:
When your co-worker comes into your office EVERY DAY to see what’s arrived for you from eBay or Etsy, does that mean you have a problem?
1 June 2009
Reading:
Shadowmarch, Tad Williams
Listening:
Lily Allen
Watching:
Australia – the movie, not the country out the window. Although I look at that too. Usually it’s more interesting.
Eating:
Passionfruit yoyos. I baked! Am domestic genius!
Liking:
Staying in bed when it’s cold in the morning. Unfortunately, the day often seems to have other plans for me.
Pondering:
Can I possibly buy MORE pyjama pants? I mean, I love pyjama pants. I wear them all the time. Well, not ALL the time. Not to work, for instance. See: not allowed to stay in bed when it’s cold.
1 May 2009
Reading:
Cloudstreet, Tim Winton
Listening:
The Beatles, One. I am having some sort of sixties flashback… see below.
Watching:
The Hollies videos on YouTube. This was one of the bands I listened to while studying when I was 17, and I know the lyrics on some sort of visceral level. Listening to them also reminds me vaguely of calculus.
Eating:
Swoop! Winter swoop! Tomato swoop with cheese on toast; leek and potato swoop; pumpkin swoop. I sing the praises of swoop.
Liking:
Tights. I need more tights. Also scarves. I need many, many more scarves.
Pondering:
The girl at the wedding dress shop whose eyes just about bugged out of her head when she realised the wedding was five months away. SO SOON? Um, yes. Also, STOP showing me $3,000 dresses. Not going to happen.
1 April 2009
Reading:
Black House, Stephen King / Peter Straub. Or I will read it, anyway, over Easter.
Listening:
The thudding sound of the cats walking around the dark house and knocking things off surfaces. Also the sound of me grinding my teeth at the above.
Watching:
David Letterman.
Eating:
Chicken scallopine. Scallopini? Also much Easter chocolate.
Liking:
My birthday falling on Good Friday. Go on, have the day off. And eat some chocolate. Isn’t it all about me?
Pondering:
The state of the Australian dollar – which needs to get stronger so I can buy things off Etsy again.
1 March 2009
- Reading:
Stuff On My Cat: the book. I mean, it doesn’t have any WORDS, but it counts.
- Listening:
Vampire Weekend: Vampire Weekend. On constant rotate in my car.
- Watching:
Slumdog Millionaire. I liked it.
- Eating:
Le Petit Ecolier biscuits… mmmm, little schoolboys. Wait, that seems very wrong.
- Liking:
Online backups. I feel all prepared, like a Boy Scout.
- Pondering:
Just how close are my cats getting to the neighbour’s aviary? This might be important.
1 September 2005
- Reading:
Carl Sagan: The Demon Haunted World – Science as a Candle in the Dark. I lent this to some alien-loving friend about 10 years ago and never got it back, so finally bought another copy. This book sums up everything you need to know about my views on pseudo-science.
- Listening:
Nature’s Best 3: The Best of NZ Music
- Watching:
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Apropos of nothing, I have started ululating like Johnny Depp does when he calls the Oompa Loompas. Bliddleliddleliddle! This scares people.
- Eating:
A Peanut Butter KitKat. Interesting.
- Liking:
The flashing ‘safety’ lights we’ve put on the dogs’ collars, so that when they run around in the dark, it looks like little miniature ravers are dancing madly all over the football oval.
- Pondering:
Are there people who seriously have not heard of Split Enz? Or Crowded House? No, seriously.
1 August 2005
- Reading:
JK Rowling: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
- Listening:
Gorillaz: Feel Good Inc.

- Liking:
Bloglines. Bloggy goodness.
- Pondering:
Badger. Badger. Badger. Badger.

phantasmagoriaReading:
Stephen King, "Everything's Eventual". I found this abandoned in a suitcase.
Listening:
The snores of the Little Dog, who sadly seems just as loud and snorty at night as the Brown Dog.
Watching:
Endless episodes of UFC, which is some sort of fighting... thing. Do not want.
Eating:
I'm having a bit of an avocado binge. The Little Dog likes them too.
Liking:
Renovations! Apart from the cost of said renovations. Let's not think about that part.
Pondering:
If there is dirty washing in the basket, the cats ignore it... but if it is CLEAN, one of them has made a nest in there within 10 minutes. Five minutes, if it's black clothes.
